- With Win95, you just install the WinNT version. Win95 is actually a
- 32-bit OS (yes, I know there is some serious disagreement with this
- statement) like WinNT. The problem with Win95 is that MS had to maintain
- some 16-bit code to stay compatible with existing 16-bit applications,
- which crippled Win95 somewhat. But from what I hear, Win96 (or Nashville
- or whatever else they are calling it) will be much, much closer to a true
- 32-bit OS and it will be even closer to NT. Microsoft is basically using
- its NT experience by applying it to Win95 development.
- I don't know how much you can count on Microsoft's promises, but from
- what I have been reading about Win96 (or whatever), it will have some
- major improvements and tons of extra stuff.
